特區十年 / 方蘇繪畫
一個由新聞工作轉投繪畫的畫家以圖像撮錄1997至2007十年的事態
這個展覽與任何官方的回歸慶祝活動毫無關連，内容也完全不同。
回歸十周年，你看過些什麽節目？那些喜氣洋洋的官方、半官方節目？花車巡遊？煙花匯演？還是七月一日的集會遊行……？你想過些什麽？
如果你喜歡思考，歡迎你來這個看一個另類展覽，通過一個「新聞工作者+社會評論家+畫家」三位一體的創作人，借助他的視線和畫作，一起回顧過去十年的人物和事件。
你不必背負情緒，只要帶上腦袋……到這裏來思考，來尋找事態的前因後果……
又或者，正如香港學建構者洪清田所說 : 「憑着他取材自對社會政治的關懷和寫實的風格，方蘇也許是當下僅有的畫家，嘗試凝視香港獨特而混亂的現象，並為其造像。」
又或者，正如思匯政策研究所行政總裁陸恭惠所說 : 「這次畫展第一件作品傳達的訊息，就是畫家以其新聞技巧，透過他的畫作，表達他對1997年之後香港政治變遷的感悟。」

HKSAR: 10 Years On/Paintings by Fong So
An imagery summary of the decade from 1997 to 2007 by a journalist-turned-artist
An art exhibition different and totally unrelated to any official event of the handover anniversary
Where did you go and what did you see during the 10-year anniversary of the handover? Those fun-filled official and semi-official events? The spectacle parade and fireworks display? Or the rally and protest on the anniversary day…? What did you think about all these?
If you are the thinking type, you are welcome to a retrospection of the decade: the people, the events, the issues in painted form through the eyes of a journalist-social commentator-painter Fong So. His exhibition “HKSAR:10 Years On” will be on until 9 July 2007.
No emotional baggage required. Just bring along your brain cells…to consider, to ponder the results and the what-might-have-been…
Or, as the architect of Hongkongology Hung Ching-tin says: “By virtue of his choice of objects of socio-political concerns and realistic style, Fong So may be the only painter attempting to gaze on, and engaging in the imaging of, the messy phenomenon unique to Hong Kong.”
Or, as Christine Loh, CEO of Civic Exchange says: “The first painting in this exhibition is a message from the artist who sets out to tell us with reportage skill through his new paintings what he thinks of Hong Kong’s politics since 1997.”
